Luke 6:1-26

Filed by Random @ 00:37 CST

Well, clearly I wrestle with issues of online identity, don't I? So I put the question to my best source of good advice, and she voted for friendly over formal and gave specifics, so I've changed my introduction back. So, faithful listener who commented, you're in luck, as long as you can handle listening to some fine piano before you get your "Hi, this is Random..." :)

Greetings! I backed off on the Compression a bit this time, so we'll see how that does.

I have notions for an easier-to-listen-to-than-KJV edition of TWT, but nothing really to report just now. Stay tuned. :) I may be soliciting advice soon enough...

Thanks for the recent comments. I think I hear some weird artifacting when it's just me speaking, at least when using headphones on my PC... I may ease off on the Compression effect next time and see what that does.

Abject apologies for not having this up earlier. I had a migraine last night and just couldn't make myself do it. It's a short reading to finish out the chapter.

Luke 3

Filed by Random @ 00:17 CST

Long reading tonight, which just happens to coincide with me doubling the resolution of the audio to 64kbps... so what I'm saying is, "Enjoy the 3 meg file!" Oh well.

I really really really would love feedback (to twt@godcast.org, thank you Craig) about any quality issues with these latest post-change installments. I'm doing the best I can to find a happy medium, but as I've said I'm growing short on time and will have to record quite a few in advance (say, a couple of weeks' worth) and hope to get the quality sorted out before getting that far ahead. But there's not much time left, no.

A number of changes in today's TWT! I've been mulling a few things over and I finally got around to doing something with them (and had a lucky find or two.) So new music courtesy of Bruce Patterson, aka Mostly Piano on Soundclick.com, and, yes, my actual name instead of Random on the podcast and on this site. So, enjoy that. :)

(Oh yes, and apologies to Craig for jumping the gun on the email address at the end of this podcast -- I, uh, anticipated events somewhat when I recorded it. Please hold off using that address for now. Thanks!)

And now the fun begins of trying to get really really ahead on recording, because in the next few weeks I'll have to post-date several posts before going to India for a week or so. And then we'll have a baby to contend with. And... well, I knew this coming into this podcast notion. So I'm working on getting ahead. :)

Here's a thing about podcasting; it's easy to start to feel isolated if you aren't going along with the In Thing. But isn't that sometimes true about the life of a Christian as well? This is the sort of thing sometimes on my mind as I do what I do -- podcasting not for money or for ego (at least, I hope not) and pretty much at odds with much of the prevailing wisdom, it seems like. But I believe in what we're doing here -- not just myself, but people like Craig Pratchett and Mark Taylor and whoever else has had a vision of the podcasting audience as a 21st century agora where people have gathered to hear what messages might be brought before them. And you know what? Although many in Athens did not take Paul seriously, Acts 17:34 says that certain men clave unto him, and believed. Paul may have been at odds with the prevailing Athenian wisdom but his time was not wasted.

That's the long way of saying that with 297 podcasts left to go for this year, I'm not only 100% committed to them, my list of podcast ideas features The Whole Truth Year 2. :)

Whoops! Sorry about the roughness of the voice and the sniffles, and moreover the lateness. I was home from work with whatever it is I have on Friday, and I didn't get TWT done until quite late and had to go with what I could manage. Still, I believe the message is powerful and my voice is weak in comparison at all times, so I trust in the message and I hope you enjoy.

Well, nudged somewhat by a comment to the previous post, I've stopped posting every night to openpodcast.org -- not because of anyone feeling tired of skipping podcasts (that's what comes with openpodcast, honestly) but because I've been pondering for a while about whether I need to be taking up their resources as well as my own. I've decided not, at least not as much, so this is the place to get TWT every single day, until the year is done, no copping out on my part. Do tell your friends, and your acquaintances, and people you meet on the street, and...
