And so ends month 2! Only 10 months to go... for this year, anyway!

Tell a friend about The Whole Truth, won't you? The farther the seed scatters, the more good ground it's liable to find. And even if you personally don't care about that, I hope that it's an interesting opportunity to just listen and enjoy.

Doing this from an unusual browser -- a text-based one, in fact -- so who knows how it'll come out. Hopefully it'll work for you, and sorry if it doesn't.

The new setup is working great for me -- I'm finally getting ahead again, and starting to really think about a second podcast project I've had in mind. But how's it working for you? I don't ask for much, but I do like feedback! :)

Well, recording in the new office "studio" is really working for me, so I hope it's really working for y'all as well. I'm actually starting to get a little buffer space built up again, which is great.

So here's a big experiment today -- recorded on my office computer (same headset) on a fresh new install of everything, mp3 tags done via a linux command line tool for the most part instead of loading it into a media player to do it, and so forth. Please let me know if there are any gotchas (or, for that matter, any good changes you want to mention!)

Hey there! Thought I'd let you know that I'm considering some minor changes in the future for TWT -- depends on how some ideas work out and how this software I'm trying out works out -- but anyway we'll see. Also might try moving to the officially released 1.5 version of WordPress, which scares me so I'll inflict it on one of my other sites first and hopefully won't wreck TWT when and if I move it over. (I'm actually using a 1.5 beta anyway, so I suspect it won't be a big deal, but we'll see.) Gotta shake things up now that I'm on, that's right, podcast #50! Even I don't believe it.

And so ends the Gospel of Matthew. It's been quite an experience! I've been sick from what is likely an unknown food allergy so I'll have to start recording and editing Mark this evening, but I'm sure I'll find a way to have the first part of Mark up for you tomorrow as planned. Thanks once again for being here!

Promo: Gospel According to Mark

Filed by Random @ 23:55 CST

Yes! It's almost that time! February 17 will conclude the first book of reading on the Whole Truth -- the Gospel According to Matthew -- and thus February 18 will be a perfect jumping on point for new listeners as we start the Gospel According to Mark!

And you, yes you, can help, by spreading around this promo!

Well, tonight I tried recording using my new (well, new to me) Dell Axim X3i as the recording device. You can record at a very nice quality, but the builtin mic -- which appears to be your only option -- picks up a lot of room noise. Too bad, it would've been nice to have been free to record wherever I took my pocket PC. (So no, today's wasn't recorded on it.)

And now we draw close to the end of Matthew's Gospel with the account of the Last Supper. My apologies for my voice being somewhat feeble for this and likely the next couple of readings (I did Matthew 26 in one stretch.) Hopefully it's still nicely audible.

Matthew 25:31-46

Filed by Random @ 00:00 CST

Well, what a day! Fire alarm in my building at work, phone interview from a reporter for a major major news organization (to whom I enjoyed talking), and now I see we're actually #46 on Podcast Alley. You know, I don't make a point to ask people to vote for us, nor will I, and I don't vote for myself, but I just want to say I'm flattered and appreciative. And it warms my heart whenever a podcast that's more about God than obscenity gets recognized (I guess GodCast.org now represents 10% of the top 50 and that's definitely something.) So again: thanks for just being here! It helps me every day to know that more and more people are interested in absorbing the Word of God every day.

  1. more days of Matthew after this! Tell your friends to come on board for the Gospel of Mark!

Oops, back to my old tricks on posting late!

I've run across a number of neat references to TWT lately, including a really amazing link from this NPR story: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4472935

If you're recently arrived here from the NPR link, or for that matter, from anywhere else, welcome! Please feel free to download the mp3s via the mp3 links in each article (you can find older ones via the calendar to the right) or get a podcast download client and add the XML link to the right to it and you'll get a new one every day.

February 1 -- Matthew 21:1-22

Filed by Random @ 00:00 CST

And here we are in February! So with the change of month comes a change of equipment -- I'm trying out my Plantronics headset instead of the cheapo standing mic I've been using. I would so much love to get feedback on this change! My belief is that it's allowed me to cut out background noise (since I don't have to amplify the result as much) and be more consistent as to sound since I don't have to worry about turning my head away from the mic or things like that. Plus, I think the Plantronics headset's mic is a little better in general, but you can tell me. Email me at random AT godcast.org (mp3 or text, whatever you like), or call the phone line and leave a message for me, or comment here, however you prefer!
